Recent Memory Changes

Look at concerns around recent conversations, appointments, newly learned information, and misplaced objects.

They forget something you just talked about.

You explain something, but a short time later they seem to have no memory of the conversation.

They forget recent appointments or plans.

A doctor visit, family plan, pickup, payment, or activity was recently discussed, but they later seem unaware of it.

New information is hard for them to retain.

Instructions, new phone steps, medical advice, passwords, or new routines need to be explained repeatedly.

They remember old stories better than recent events.

They can describe events from years ago but struggle to recall what happened yesterday, who visited, or what they recently did.

They rely much more on notes, calendars, or family reminders.

Tools that used to be optional now seem necessary for everyday plans, medication, bills, or routines.

They misplace things and cannot retrace their steps.

Keys, glasses, remotes, wallets, or phones are found in unusual places, and they cannot remember how they got there.
